Lindsay Lohan charged with assault, accused of punching woman in face

NEW YORK – For most, the day you are charged with a crime is one of your darkest. For Lindsay Lohan, that ante has been upped, as the troubled actress was charged on Thursday with not one, but four separate crimes in two different states. The Santa Monica City Attorney charged Lohan Thursday with three crimes in relation to her June car crash on the Pacific Coast Highway. The three crimes are (1) giving false information to a police officer, (2) obstructing or resisting an officer in the performance of his duty, and (3) reckless driving. In a statement sent to FOX 411 the Santa Monica Police Department said Lohan's charges come today after further investigation of the June crash. "During the subsequent investigation, information was developed that Lohan was the driver of the Porsche when the accident occurred," the statement explained. Earlier this week, MTV News attempted to figure out a way for perpetually problem-plagued actress Lindsay Lohan to get her career back on track after the not-so-hot reviews of her Lifetime movie "Liz & Dick," but now, after yet another disappointing incident in which Lohan was arrested for punching a woman at a nightclub, her future — both professional and personal — looks bleaker than ever. MTV News reached out to a new panel of industry experts with this question: Will Lindsay Lohan ever find work as an actress again? "You keep hoping that she's going to get her act together, so does everyone in Hollywood. They keep rooting for her, and she blows it every time," lamented "Access Hollywood" film critic Scott Mantz. "She's got more breaks from people in Hollywood than anyone in her position deserves to get but she does not give the impression of someone who really wants to get her career back on track. She should not be going out. She should be sitting home reading scripts and get her career back on track. She is not doing that."It's safe to say Thursday wasn't Lindsay Lohan's best day. Not long after she was arrested for allegedly punching a woman in a New York City club, Lohan was charged with lying to police after she crashed her car into a big rig June 8 on the Pacific Coast Highway in Santa Monica. Prosecutors charged the actress with resisting, obstructing, or delaying an officer in the course of their duties, providing false information to an officer, and reckless driving, according to E! News. All of are misdemeanors, and a court date has not yet been set. Lohan is currently on probation for stealing jewelry from a Venice store earlier this year. And if the crash wasn't enough to get her probation revoked, the assault charges on the other side of the country might.
