Chelsea vs Liverpool – 1-2 – Premier League Highlights and Result

Ex-Chelsea player Glen Johnson became hero turned villain when scored to give Liverpool a dramatic late winner in his side’s 2-1 victory over the Blues at Stamford Bridge this afternoon.

After receiving a pass from Charlie Adam he went on a surging run into the box and swept past Ashley Cole to fire with a perfect finish into the corner of the net with just 3 minutes of normal time remaining.
The goal came against the run of play as Chelsea had dominated the second half and looked the most likely winners after going a goal down in the first 45 minutes.
Liverpool were by far the better side in the first half, and went a goal ahead when Maxi Rodriquez finished off a brilliant passing move in the 33rd minute.
Charlie Adam dispossessed John Mikel Obi before Craig Bellamy and Luis Suarez exchanged passes to feed in Rodriguez to sweep the ball home from 12 yards out.
That gave the Merseysiders a well deserved lead going into the break against a Chelsea side that lacked any real cutting edge and looked vulnerable at the back.
However Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas clearly gave his side a dressing room rollicking in the break and they responded by coming out and bossing the game.
They got their just rewards when John Terry burst from the back to feed Florent Malouda, whose cross-shot was forced home at the back post by Daniel Sturridge in the 55th minute.
It then looked as if it would a case of honours even, but Kenny Dalglish’s men did not lie down and fought back with tenacity to grab the winner.
The victory meant that Chelsea had lost successive games at home for the first time in 9 1/2 years, and leaves them languishing in fourth place in the league – well adrift of pacesetters Man City and second placed Man United.
Liverpool, on the other hand, are now sitting in sixth place on exactly the same points as Chelsea and will now clearly have their eyes on a top four finish.
